FOOTBALL KITS (LOOKING BACK)

LOOKING BACK - FOOTBALL KITS

Whether it be a kick around the streets, jumpers down in the park or the premiership, the game of football has not really changed over the years.
The same cannot be said for team football kits.

Back in the day footballers had plain heavy cotton football shirts, with a round collar. The kits were devoid of logos, sponsors and names, just your number on the back and shorts where normally plain white.

Can you remember at school when you played football in your P.E. kit and could only tell who was on your side by the thin coloured sash we wore. They were either blue, red, yellow or green. Happy days.

Well, football team kits have come along way since them days, I am happy to say looking at the product range of kits that are available for todays footballers, you have to be astounded by the choice.

Lets start with the the football shirts. You can get round neck or v-neck, short sleeves or long sleeves. The array of colours is astounding. Not only the colours but the actual design of the shirts has come on leaps and bounds. You can still get the traditional plain shirts but if you want a bit more from your kits, there are stripes, hoops, chequered and many have geometric designs within the material. You will also find that the material used on todays kits are light weight and breathable. Just what you need for running around a football pitch.

What about the shorts……..well they went from past the knee to micro shorts (that’s when shorts where shorts). Now they are just above the knee. Even the shorts have had a make-over. You are not stuck with either black or white. You will find that now, with most kits the shorts can also match the shirt colour if you want. Same with your socks or you can mix ‘n’ match your shirts, shorts and socks to suit your needs.

Due to the vast amount of colours available, you now find that many schools are able to purchase their school colours. Printed up with the school logo, number and your name, it is a far cry from the black shorts, white polo shirt and your team sash.

The same goes for colleges and universities that are looking to play in their college and university colours.

So now it is not only the professional footballers that can look good in there team kits, you all can, from grass roots football, 5 a side, 11 a side or walking football. There will be a football team kit to suit your needs.

I also read that when a team squad looked good, their performance was enhanced. It gives the players more confidence. When they look good, they will play good

As we all know womens football is becoming very popular. So ladies you also have plenty of colour, designs and patterns to choose from to look good on the pitch.

The best part is they don’t have to be expensive. Looking around there are plenty of colours and designs that are unbranded. Cheap football kits or discounted football kits are just as good, in some cases better that the branded kits. You might even score by bagging a bargain kit.

The only problem you will have is trying to decide what kit you want. Once you have chosen your kit the next step is to get your team badge, logo or sponsor, name and number put on and your good to go.

So come on all you kids, youths, women and men, check out the team kits available and do your team proud with a new kit.
